The start of another heatwave ?

Well, summer has definitely arrived with a vengeance. Over the last week, afternoon temperatures have been steadily rising and yesterday hit 38C against a background of brilliant blue skies. Too hot for comfort on a regular basis, but now and again .........

The only place to really relax was by (or in) the pool, which was a refreshing 28C providing our guests with no reason whatsoever to move anywhere else.

Foolishly, I had agreed to play golf and melted quietly during the round before recovering at the bar three and half hours later. Still good practice for the weeks ahead.

Sadly, our garden now resembles a brown desert, having been an oasis of green fertile growth only a fortnight ago. We're just hoping that we're not in for another unrelenting summer of stultifying heat as we had a couple of years ago.
